Sport weight yarn is great for small projects like baby clothes, lightweight shells and tanks, lacey scarves, and shawls. The finer gauge really helps to show off the nice details of your yarn.
Sport weight yarn works up best on needle sizes US 3 to US 5 (or crochet hooks sized E to 7). When figuring how much yarn you’ll need for a project, a sport weight yarn will typically yield about 1200 to 1750 yards per pound. Take a look at how many yards your pattern is calling for, and this should help you figure out how many ounces or pounds (or cones!) of yarn you’ll need for your project.
Appropriate for:
Needle sizes US 3 to 5

Approximately 23-26 stitches per 4" stockinette stitch
